About Dillon Beach

Situated near the mouth of Tomales Bay, Dillon Beach is a expansive, family-friendly stretch of soft sand backed by rolling dunes. Surfers enjoy the consistent, forgiving beach breaks right off the shore, while beachcombing and clamming are popular along the sandy intertidal flats. Although rocky tide pools are sparse on the main beach, nearby rocky outcrops to the north harbor small marine pockets. Keeping an eye on tide tables is crucial for visitors; low tide exposes a vast expanse of hard-packed sand ideal for walking and clamming, and helps boaters and kayakers safely navigate the shifting sandbars and strong tidal currents near the Tomales Bay entrance.
