About Fort Bragg
Fort Bragg features a rich mix of unique shorelines, anchored by the famous Glass Beach and the extensive trails and dunes of MacKerricher State Park. Surfers gather at Virgin Creek and surrounding beach breaks, while the rocky intertidal reefs at MacKerricher host incredible tide pools filled with sea stars, urchins, and harbor seals lounging nearby. The sandy beaches and tidal flats also offer seasonal opportunities for clamming and beachcombing for smoothed sea glass. A low tide chart is essential for visitors to fully experience Fort Bragg: negative low tides are needed to uncover the rich tide pools at MacKerricher and maximize the exposed beach area for glass hunting along the shore.
