About Cape Henlopen

A stunning, protected natural peninsula where the ocean meets the bay, this area encompasses Cape Henlopen State Park, the Point, Herring Point, and the Great Dune. It is a premier destination for surf fishing, photographing the historic 1925 Harbor of Refuge and Breakwater Lighthouse landmarks, and watching wild dolphins play at the bay mouth. The dynamic environment at the Point is heavily influenced by the tides; an incoming high tide sweeps clean, emerald ocean water around the cape, frequently bringing large pods of dolphins incredibly close to the shoreline to feed.
