About Key Largo
The dive capital of the world covers the spectacular John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, Harry Harris Park, and the Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock. The focus here is entirely underwater and estuarine, with visitors snorkeling out to Spanish shipwreck cannons, taking glass-bottom boat tours to the Christ of the Abyss, sea kayaking mangrove trails, and wading in protected beach coves. Knowing the tides is crucial for scuba divers and snorkelers; timing an excursion to the outer coral reefs during a slack high tide provides the absolute best underwater visibility and the calmest swimming conditions.
