About Haleʻiwa

Serving as the historic gateway to Oʻahu’s North Shore, Haleʻiwa is a hub for ocean sports, encompassing Aliʻi Beach, Puaena Point, Waialua Bay, and Laniakea (Turtle Beach). Puaena Point offers beginner-to-intermediate surf lessons, while Aliʻi Beach hosts high-stakes winter surf competitions. The calm waters inside Waialua Bay are ideal for stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and viewing Hawaiian green sea turtles along the shoreline. Checking tide tables is essential here: a higher tide provides necessary clearance over shallow reef shelves for paddleboarders in Waialua Bay and surf students at Puaena, while lower tides expose live coral heads and compress wave faces at neighboring reef breaks.
