The Rigolets tides
Predicted from The Rigolets, U.S. Highway 90, NOAA station 8761402, 0 miles away. In the marsh the tide does more than raise and lower the water. A falling tide pulls bait out of the ponds and through the cuts, and it decides how much water sits under a hull on the way back in. The range is small; what matters is which way it is running. Heights in feet above MLLW. Also covers Fort Pike, Lake Borgne and Chef Menteur Pass.

About The Rigolets
Serving as a major deep-water pass connecting Lake Pontchartrain to Lake Borgne and the Gulf beyond, The Rigolets area, along with Chef Menteur Pass and historic Fort Pike, is a rugged hub for coastal action. Visitors often head toward the outer Gulf edges for primitive beach camping directly on the sand, 4x4 driving along the beach strand, surf casting for red drum, and combing the drift lines for shells and sea glass. Because this pass is a major tidal bottleneck, knowing the tides is absolutely critical; an intense tidal pull creates hazardous, ripping currents for boaters, while timing a slack or gently incoming tide provides the safest and most productive conditions for surf casting.
