About Tilghman Island

Separated from the mainland by Knapps Narrows, this authentic Chesapeake Bay community encompasses Dogwood Harbor and the sweeping views at Black Walnut Point. The local experience involves watching working watermen unload catches of blue crabs and oysters, photographing boats navigating the busy drawbridge channel, and departing on charter fishing trips. Navigating Knapps Narrows is a highly technical, tide-dependent endeavor for boaters; the narrow channel experiences incredibly swift tidal currents, so captains prefer to transit during a slack tide to maintain safe control of their vessels.
