New Brunswick Tide Charts

Mary’s Point tides

Predicted from the Grindstone Island gauge, 2 miles away. The upper Bay of Fundy has the largest tides in the world. The range here runs thirty to forty feet and more at springs — the bay narrowing and shallowing until the water has nowhere to go but up. Ground that is dry and walkable at low water is under three or four storeys of sea six hours later. This is not a caution to be polite about. The flats look solid, the water returns faster than anyone can walk, and it fills the channels behind you first. Know when the tide turns before going out, and be back well before it does. Heights in metres above Chart Datum. Also covers the shorebird reserve, Shepody Bay and the sandpiper flocks.

About Mary’s Point

A globally recognized ecological sanctuary, Mary’s Point covers the shorebird reserve, Shepody Bay, and massive tidal mudflats. It is famous for world-class shorebird watching, walking long sandy and gravel beaches, and quiet driftwood exploration. The dramatic tidal shifts dictate the incredible wildlife spectacle here; as the massive Bay of Fundy tide rushes in, it forces hundreds of thousands of migrating semipalmated sandpipers off the mudflats and into incredibly dense, synchronized flying flocks right along the shoreline.
