New Castle tides
Predicted from Fort Point, NOAA station 8423898, 0 miles away. The Piscataqua runs to four or five knots — one of the fastest navigable rivers in the country — and the current does not turn when the tide does. Slack is a short window here and it falls well after high or low water. For anything afloat, read the current tables rather than these times. Heights in feet above MLLW. Also covers Great Island Common, Fort Constitution, Fort Stark and Portsmouth Harbor Light.

About New Castle
An idyllic, historic island community situated at the mouth of the Piscataqua River, New Castle covers the sprawling lawns of Great Island Common, Fort Constitution, Fort Stark, and the Portsmouth Harbor Light. The shoreline is heavily utilized for picnicking, shore fishing off the rocky points, and viewing historic military landmarks. The Piscataqua River boasts some of the fastest tidal currents in North America; knowing the tides is a matter of safety for kayakers who must ride the currents rather than fight them, and shore anglers specifically target the slack tide to keep their heavy fishing rigs from being swept away by the intense river flow.
