About Orient

The quiet, scenic tip of the North Fork, Orient covers Orient Beach State Park, Orient Point, and the notorious Plum Gut. The area is highly prized for kayaking maritime hamlets, searching for driftwood along 45,000 feet of bay front, and viewing the Orient Point Light landmark. The tidal currents ripping through Plum Gut are some of the most dangerous on the East Coast; kayakers and boaters must time their travels precisely with a slack tide to ensure a safe, manageable passage through this powerful maritime bottleneck.
