Nova Scotia Tide Charts

Pictou tides

Predicted from the Pictou gauge, 1 miles away. The Northumberland Strait has a small range, four feet or so, and shallow sand that warms through the summer — the warmest salt water north of the Carolinas, which is why these beaches are what they are. The tide matters less here than almost anywhere else in the province. Heights in metres above Chart Datum. Also covers the waterfront, Melmerby Beach and Pictou Island.

About Pictou

Known as the "Birthplace of New Scotland," this deeply historic town covers the active waterfront, the spectacular Melmerby Beach, and Pictou Island. Visitors tour the replica ship Hector, enjoy warm water swimming at Melmerby, and take the passenger ferry to Pictou Island. Melmerby Beach is a stunning two-kilometer barrier beach where knowing the tides is highly beneficial; a low tide exposes beautiful, wide sandbars that drastically increase the beach area and create shallow, incredibly warm wading pools perfect for families.
