Blooming Point tides

Predicted from the Crowbush Cove gauge, 6 miles away. The north shore faces the Gulf of St Lawrence and runs a small tide — three or four feet — over sand that shifts with every storm. The dunes here move, and the sandbars offshore are never quite where they were last year. What the tide governs is the crossing to the bars and the depth over them, which matters to anyone swimming out. The rip currents along this shore are the real hazard rather than the range. About Blooming Point

A stunning, somewhat hidden gem, Blooming Point covers the pristine remote sand dunes, Tracadie Bay, and the expansive sandspit. It is highly prized for kayaking sheltered waters, birdwatching, viewing shellfish habitats, quiet red sand walking, and acting as an unofficial surf spot during strong north swells. Surfers and beachcombers both rely on the tides here; a mid-to-high incoming tide pushes the most consistent surfable waves over the sandbars, while a low tide opens up the massive sandspit for miles of uninterrupted, quiet walking.
