Cabot Beach tides
Predicted from the Malpeque gauge, 5 miles away. The north shore faces the Gulf of St Lawrence and runs a small tide — three or four feet — over sand that shifts with every storm. The dunes here move, and the sandbars offshore are never quite where they were last year. What the tide governs is the crossing to the bars and the depth over them, which matters to anyone swimming out. The rip currents along this shore are the real hazard rather than the range. Heights in metres above Chart Datum. Also covers Malpeque Bay, the oyster beds and Princetown Point.

About Cabot Beach
A massive provincial park bordering an enormous bay, Cabot Beach covers Malpeque Bay, the world-famous oyster beds, and Princetown Point. It is a premier destination for tidal estuary birdwatching, kayaking, peaceful shore walking on the large red sand beach, and ocean swimming. The world-renowned Malpeque oyster industry relies entirely on the massive tidal flushing of the bay; visitors walking the tidal flats at low tide can see the vast, exposed oyster beds, but must carefully watch the returning tide to avoid getting stranded far from shore.
