Prince Edward Island Tide Charts

Cavendish tides

Predicted from the Rustico gauge, 5 miles away. The north shore faces the Gulf of St Lawrence and runs a small tide — three or four feet — over sand that shifts with every storm. The dunes here move, and the sandbars offshore are never quite where they were last year. What the tide governs is the crossing to the bars and the depth over them, which matters to anyone swimming out. The rip currents along this shore are the real hazard rather than the range. Heights in metres above Chart Datum. Also covers Cavendish Beach, the Green Gables shore, Orby Head and North Rustico.

About Cavendish

The crown jewel of PEI’s tourism and the heart of "Anne of Green Gables" country, Cavendish covers Cavendish Beach, the Green Gables shore, Orby Head, and North Rustico. The area is globally famous for its white and red sand dunes, Gulf of St. Lawrence swimming, soaring 110-foot red sandstone cliffs, sunset viewing, and ocean-side trail walking. Tracking the tides greatly enhances the beach experience; a low tide reveals incredibly wide, flat sandbars at Cavendish Beach, creating perfect, shallow wading pools and providing plenty of room for the massive summer crowds.
