Prince Edward Island Tide Charts

Naufrage tides

Predicted from the Naufrage gauge, 1 miles away. The north shore faces the Gulf of St Lawrence and runs a small tide — three or four feet — over sand that shifts with every storm. The dunes here move, and the sandbars offshore are never quite where they were last year. What the tide governs is the crossing to the bars and the depth over them, which matters to anyone swimming out. The rip currents along this shore are the real hazard rather than the range. Heights in metres above Chart Datum. Also covers the harbour, the lighthouse and Shipwreck Point.

About Naufrage

A picturesque, historic fishing harbor on the rugged north shore, Naufrage covers the harbor, the cliff-top lighthouse landmark, and Shipwreck Point. Typical activities involve mackerel shore fishing from the breakwaters, bridge walking, seal viewing, and ocean barrier beach walking. Anglers casting off the breakwaters at Naufrage Harbor live by the tide charts; they specifically target the incoming tide, which pushes clean Gulf water and baitfish into the harbor mouth, bringing massive schools of mackerel right to their lines.
