About New Point Comfort

A spectacular, remote natural area at the tip of Mathews County, encompassing the New Point Comfort Lighthouse, Mobjack Bay, and the pristine Bethel Beach. Visitors come here for boardwalk nature walks, paddleboarding, and viewing the historic 1804 sandstone lighthouse that sits completely surrounded by water across the channel. Paddleboarding across the channel to get a closer view of the New Point Comfort Lighthouse is only safe and easy during a slack high tide, which provides deep enough water while avoiding the swift, unpredictable currents of Mobjack Bay.
