About Fanny Bay

Fanny Bay lies along the sheltered waters of Baynes Sound, famous worldwide for its shellfish aquaculture and wild estuarine environment. Ocean activities focus on commercial and recreational oyster and clam harvesting, sea kayaking, and wildlife viewing of seals, sea lions, and marine birds. The shoreline consists of gravel beds, mudflats, and shell beaches. Tracking tide tables is essential for visiting Fanny Bay: negative low tides are strictly required to walk out onto the exposed shellfish beds of Baynes Sound for clamming and oyster harvesting, as high tides completely submerge the harvestable intertidal zone.
