About Tahsis

Tucked deep within the fjord lands of Nootka Sound, Tahsis is a sea kayaking, ocean fishing, and wilderness diving hub, covering historic outposts like Nootka Island, Friendly Cove (Yuquot), and Nootka Sound. Ocean excursions include kayaking past sea caves, fishing for Pacific salmon, and hiking along the rugged Nootka Trail. Beachcombing for historical artifacts, driftwood, and marine life occurs along the pebble beaches of Friendly Cove. A low tide chart is essential for visitors navigating Nootka Sound: low tide reveals tidal sea caves along Nootka Island's outer coast, exposes intertidal kelp beds, and dictates safe launch times for kayakers avoiding strong ebb tides in narrow fjord channels.
