About Parksville

Parksville is renowned for its vast, shallow sandy beaches, headlined by Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park and Madrona Point. Rathtrevor Beach features a massive sandy expanse where the ocean recedes nearly a kilometer at low tide, making it a paradise for warm-water wading, sandcastle building, beachcombing, and paddleboarding. Madrona Point offers rocky drop-offs favored by local scuba divers. A tide chart is the most important tool for a Parksville visit: extreme low tides expose vast tidal flats ideal for clamming, shell collecting, and walking, while incoming high tides quickly cover the sun-warmed sand, heating the incoming ocean water for warm swimming.
