About Galiano Island

Galiano Island is defined by dramatic sandstone shorelines, sea caves, and coastal parks like Montague Harbour and Bellhouse Park. Montague Harbour features a famous white shell beach made of ancient crushed shells, offering tranquil waters for kayaking, mooring, paddleboarding, and beachcombing. Bellhouse Park provides front-row views of active marine life in Active Pass. Tracking tide charts is critical: low tide exposes unique carved sandstone galleries, honeycomb erosion formations, and rich tide pools along the shoreline, while also generating extreme tidal currents through Active Pass that dictate safe passage for mariners and kayakers.
