About Honolua Bay
Honolua Bay is a marine life conservation district renowned for world-class winter surfing and pristine summer snorkeling, supported by Mokuleia Bay (Slaughterhouse), Punalau, and the surrounding cliffs. In winter, Honolua transforms into a flawless, powerful right-hand point break for advanced surfers; in summer, glassy waters allow snorkelers and divers to explore vibrant coral gardens teeming with fish. A tide chart is critical: lower tides reveal the slippery boulder entry point inside the bay and make the outer surf reef dangerously shallow, while a mid-to-high tide smooths out entry for divers and offers safer water depth over the point reef.
