About Crescent Beach
Crescent Beach, anchored by the renowned Salt Creek Recreation Area and Tongue Point near Joyce, is one of Washington’s premier tide pooling and cold-water surfing destinations. The crescent-shaped bay catches west swells, creating popular surf breaks right off the beach, while Tongue Point features world-class intertidal marine sanctuaries packed with colorful sea anemones, urchins, sea stars, and nudibranchs. While clamming is restricted within the marine reserve, surrounding beaches offer rich shell fishing. Knowing the tide schedule is critical; a low ebb tide is mandatory to explore the delicate rock marine gardens at Tongue Point without getting stranded on slippery outer ledges by rising water.
