About Belfair

Situated at the far southern tip of the Hood Canal, Belfair is supported by Belfair State Park and the mudflats of Lynch Cove. The warm, shallow waters at the end of the canal are unsuited for surfing, but they support thriving estuarine ecosystems. Tidal flats at Lynch Cove provide good seasonal clamming and oyster gathering, alongside crabbing opportunities. Knowing the tides is critical in this shallow basin; low tide pulls the water back hundreds of yards to expose clamming grounds, while high tide rapidly fills the flat bay, making accurate timing essential for safety and harvesting success.
