Mexico Tide Charts

Puerto Peñasco tides

Predicted from Puerto Penasco, NOAA station TWC0389, 0 miles away. This is one of NOAA’s subordinate stations. Rather than computing the tide here from its own harmonic constants, NOAA takes a reference gauge in the United States and applies a fixed time and height offset to it. Compared against Mexico’s own published tables the result is good to roughly ten minutes and a quarter of a foot — fine for planning a day, less so for anything that turns on the exact moment of slack water. Heights in feet above MLLW. Also covers Sandy Beach, Cholla Bay, Playa Hermosa and Bahía la Choya.

About Puerto Peñasco

Situated in the upper reaches of the Gulf of California, Puerto Peñasco experiences some of the most dramatic tidal swings in North America, making tide awareness mandatory for coastal visitors. At extreme low tide, the sea recedes hundreds of yards across Sandy Beach, Cholla Bay, and Bahía la Choya, transforming vast areas into exposed mudflats and rocky intertidal shelf environments. These low-water windows create prime conditions for extreme low-tide tide pooling, clamming, and shell harvesting, as well as extensive beachcombing along newly exposed sandbars. Conversely, high tide rapidly returns deep water to the bays, signaling the ideal timeframe for launching jet skis and enjoying sunset beach walks along the high-water line of Playa Hermosa. Tracking tide times allows visitors to harvest shells or explore marine life safely before incoming water covers the shallow flats.
