Mexico Tide Charts

San Carlos, Bahía Magdalena tides

Predicted from San Carlos, NOAA station TWC0399, 0 miles away. This is one of NOAA’s subordinate stations. Rather than computing the tide here from its own harmonic constants, NOAA takes a reference gauge in the United States and applies a fixed time and height offset to it. Compared against Mexico’s own published tables the result is good to roughly ten minutes and a quarter of a foot — fine for planning a day, less so for anything that turns on the exact moment of slack water. Heights in feet above MLLW. Also covers Bahía Magdalena, Puerto San Carlos and the grey whale lagoons.

About San Carlos, Bahía Magdalena

Situated along the outer Pacific coast of Baja California Sur, San Carlos and Bahía Magdalena comprise a massive system of protected lagoons and sheltered bays renowned as a primary nursery for grey whales. Tides govern access across the shallow bay entrances and lagoon channels surrounding Puerto San Carlos. Mid-to-high tides provide necessary clearance for eco-tour boats navigating the grey whale lagoons, ensuring smooth passage over shifting shoals. Meanwhile, low-tide cycles reveal broad mudflats and shoreline margins where coastal birds feed, making tidal timing crucial for both safe marine navigation and wildlife observation.
