Ecuador Tide Charts

Ayampe tides

Predicted from Puerto de Cayo, NOAA station TWC0269, 22 miles away. No gauge exists nearer than this. The coast between runs open and unbroken, so the heights hold well and only the turn of the tide may fall a little either side of the times shown. Heights in feet above MLLW. Also covers Playa Ayampe, Las Tunas and Río Ayampe.

About Ayampe

Where the Ayampe River meets the open Pacific, Ayampe and neighboring Las Tunas offer a lush, eco-conscious coastal haven defined by open ocean swells and dramatic views of the offshore Los Ahorcados rock formations. Surfers flock to Ayampe’s sand-and-cobble beach breaks, which peak during mid-to-high tide when incoming swells hit the sandbars with maximum power and shape. At low tide, the river estuary drains into shallow channels, exposing wide, dark-sand shores and rocky intertidal shelves at Las Tunas that feature accessible tide pools, sea anemones, and scattered driftwood. Timing your visit with the tide chart is key: surfers need mid-tide to avoid shallow bottom-outs on the cobbles, while tide poolers and beachcombers require low spring tides to explore the exposed rock platforms safely.
